YOUR ROLE

Transportation Lead Engineer will play a vital role in the success of the firm. The Transportation Lead Engineer will lead development and design of plans for surface transportation projects, according to established engineering standards and state or federal construction policy. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience working with NDDOT and local agencies, experience in the design of rail facilities, along with the ability to manage multiple transportation projects, and be a licensed engineer in North Dakota.

 

TRANSPORTATION LEAD ENGINEER

Design and supervise transportation related projects.

Plan modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow.

Maintain existing clients and seek out new transportation related business opportunities.

Prepare proposals in response to RFQs/RPPs and develop presentations for interviews with the NDDOT and other transportation related agencies.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with focus on transportation or similar field with North Dakota PE registration.

You are building on 10 plus years of Transportation Design experience with emphasis on roadway, highway geometric design, drainage, and transportation planning including traffic engineering, corridor studies, signalization, striping and signage.

You have strong technical skills and experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, Microstation, Geopak, InRoads and other related programs.

You have successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.

You possess NDDOT related experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You work closely with designers, engineers, and clients to provide site design and construction plans for public and private transportation projects.

You design and supervise transportation related projects.

You prepare designs, specifications, and estimates for transportation facilities.

You investigate traffic problems and recommend methods for improvement.

You plan modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow.

You conduct research and development of potential publicly and privately held transportation projects for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

You perform engineering plan production and construction administration on projects.

You check construction plans, design calculations, and cost estimations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformity to engineering standards or practices.

You coordinate with contractors, utility companies, and government agencies to discuss plans, specifications, and work schedules.

You present data, maps, and other information at construction-related public hearings and meetings.

You inspect completed transportation projects to ensure safety and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

You manage existing clients, work to develop new business relationships, and secure new clientele.

You communicate well and seek out new business opportunities.

You work with a team of professionals to develop content for response to RFQs and RFPs.

You are comfortable interviewing for projects with state and local agencies.

You collaborate in the development of man-hour budgets and project schedules.

You participate in contract bidding, negotiation, and administration.

 

 

A BIT MORE INFORMATION

This position may be located in our Minot or Williston office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.

Ackerman-Estvold offers a competitive salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, 401K, annual bonus, vacation, sick, and holiday leave.

Salary range is $110K - $120K annually.
