THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
The Director of Communications will be responsible for overseeing ongoing public relations-related projects, managing third-party agencies, building relationships with targeted media, drafting press materials, and executing proactive brand-building campaigns. The Director of Communications is passionate about crafting compelling communications to raise brand awareness and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
POSITION IN ORGANIZATION
Reports to: Director of Finance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work collaboratively with our Marketing Team to develop and implement public relations strategies to help grow brand awareness and customer engagement.
- Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
- Developing and implementing organizational publicity strategies for company events.
- Analyzing all media coverage of the organization and drafting appropriate responses.
- Draft and edit corporate communications, press releases, speeches, presentations, FAQs, etc.
- Develop deep understanding of Ackerman-Estvold's business including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers, and competitors in the marketplace.
- Develops and leads proposal process including planning, review, and production of statements of qualifications and proposals.
- Participate in business building activities, including the development of new and existing client relationships. Participate in strategic planning processes to identify and pursue clients and projects.
- Provide direction on crisis response and oversee team coordination.
- Stay up to date on current PR best practices, industry trends, and innovative strategies.
- Coordinate volunteers, support staff, vendors and more to support promotional events.
- Leads and Participates in presentations; both internal and external
- Manages/Approves media requests, donations, and sponsorships.
- Serves as the Public Information Officer for clients.
- Ensure that the Organization regularly conducts relevant market research.
- Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
You have a bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
You have at least 8 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations with demonstrated success.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment, handling multiple projects and priorities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
