YOUR ROLE

Senior Architect managing multiple projects, assembling design proposals, leading design and specification efforts, managing & mentoring staff, quality assurance/quality control of construction documents, and completing projects from design through construction. The senior architect serves as client managers and relationship builders, while actively leading business development efforts and preparing proposals and presentations to develop new projects.


SENIOR ARCHITECT RESPONSIBILITIES:

Take a leadership role in all phases of design: schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration.

Supervisory or lead a design team over multiple projects.

Initiate business development efforts to advance project development and effectively cross-sell services.

Manage client relationship at the social, technical, and contract level.

Make independent decisions on architectural problems and methods.

Apply skills to minimize risks and vulnerabilities and seek means to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Reviews and approves all work performed under his/her supervision.

Participate in internal quality assurance/quality control processes.

Supervises the preparation and checks the accuracy of contract documents.

Provide leadership and motivation to a team that is performing a sequence of tasks to meet milestones.

Assemble design proposals and execute design contracts, incorporating necessary scope and consultants for a financially successful project, in cooperation with managing principal.

Manage financial and time performance metrics of project.


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture with North Dakota, South Dakota, and/or Minnesota registration, or the ability to obtain licensure upon employment, with at least 15 years of successful post-graduate design and consulting experience.

You can manage multiple projects of various types and scales at the same time with varying timelines and delivered successful projects on schedule.

You have outstanding time management skills and can prioritize various tasks and team resources throughout the course of projects to maintain reasonable workloads for the team.

You understand efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining the standard of service to clients.


You understand and can manage the financial metrics for successful completion and performance of projects.

You go the extra mile to make sure projects are completed on time and on budget and are in the trenches with team members to facilitate progress on projects.

You successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.

You have strong conceptual design skills and ability to communicate the design; fluency in SketchUp, Enscape, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator is preferred.

You have strong technical skills and production experience using AutoCAD (required) and Revit (preferred).

You demonstrate a high degree of competence, capabilities, and architectural experience resulting from progressive responsibilities.

You are a technical expert regarding specialized designs, building materials & methods, and will offer firm-wide support for a seamless design process.

You have advanced understanding of building codes, zoning ordinances, and standards.

You have solid knowledge of construction materials & detailing, cost estimating, and writing specifications using industry software.

You advocate proactively for the field of Architecture and enjoy sharing knowledge, presenting, and encouraging students to explore it as a career.

This position will be in our Minot, ND office; however occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.
